Here's The Dealio:
We just got this new turntable with a higher-end USB interface and software that allows us to clean up and digitize records. After installing a special cartridge and stylus for 78RPM records, we're currently going through our collection of discs and finding some very cool stuff.
We're wondering if you've got any old records you might want to lend us so that we can add that material to our library of recorded sound.
We'll restore and digitize, then return them along with a CD copy of the music. And we'll do that for free.
What We Want:
78 RPM records. The older the better.
Strange labels, Weird titles.
PLEASE: No big band/50's stuff. we already got 'em. Thanks.
HOW WE DO IT:
First: We carefully clean the record.
Then: We play it converting the analog audio to digital information.
Then: We remove clicks and noise. This is the hard part - making sure we get as clean a sound as possible without introducing digital artifacts.
Finally: We burn a CD of the session and place it on top of the stack as we return your records to you.
